The Stride For Pride

May 31, 2022

Every year more than 1.8 million LGBTQ young people seriously consider suicide each year in the United States. Feelings of isolation and lack of support are common reasons for these thoughts. We see these young people in our clinic every day and many have little to no support outside from family and friends. The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people.

June 1, 2022 marks the start of Pride Month across the country which was first organized as Gay Pride Week and the Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade in June 1970.

Team members at H3 made the decision to host a fundraising event “The Stride for Pride” to show our support and we would love for you to join us.  We are asking supporters to log 52 miles, 1 mile for each year, to show LGBTQ youth across the country that they are supported.  Feel free to walk, hike, run, bike, or do whatever activity you choose.  Challenge family, friends, and coworkers to join you by logging their miles or make a donation to support you.

*If running, walking, or biking aren't your thing feel free to do any activity that you can repeat 52 times.  Some suggestions are knitting, writing thank you notes, pushups, and random acts of kindness.  We'd love for individuals to share their creative ideas in the Comments section.
